Privacy Policy
Effective 16 October 2026
Zidni is a daily Islamic companion for iPhone. Faith is personal, so the app is built to keep what you write and answer about your faith on your own device. This policy explains what stays on your device, what leaves it and why, and the choices you have.
In short
- Your journal, your answers about prayer and faith, your private prayer log and your progress stay on your iPhone. We never see them.
- When you first open Zidni, it creates a random account ID for you, with no name or email, so purchases and app features work. You don't need to sign in, and the app doesn't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time. It sends a small set of usage events that never contain what you write or answer. Crash reports help us fix problems.
- No advertising based on your data, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
What stays on your device
- Journal entries: text, mood, linked ayah and voice transcripts. They are encrypted with a key kept in your iPhone's Keychain.
- Your onboarding answers (how connected you feel, how often you pray, what gets in the way), your goals and how the app addresses you.
- The optional private prayer log.
- Progress: journeys, streaks, Qur'an reading progress, bookmarks and private notes, dhikr counts.
- Location: only the place used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction (city, coordinates and time zone). Both are calculated on your device. To show your city's name, your iPhone looks it up with Apple's location service. We keep no location history and your location is never sent to us.
- Voice: when you dictate a reflection, your iPhone turns your speech into text on the device itself. Voice input is only offered when your iPhone can do this for your language, and the recording is not kept.
App lock uses Apple's Screen Time permission. Zidni doesn't know the names of the apps you choose, can't see how you use them and sends nothing about them; it all stays on your device.
What leaves your device
| What | Who receives it | When | Why |
|---|---|---|---|

It is on by default; turn it off in Settings › Privacy & data | To see which features help people and improve the app. Events are linked to your random account ID, never to your name. |
| Crash reports: what the app was doing when it stopped, with the device model and iOS version | Google Firebase Crashlytics | When the app crashes | To fix bugs |
| A random account ID, created when you first open the app, with no name or email | Google Firebase Authentication | When you first open the app | To keep your account and link your subscription to it |

These companies process data on our behalf and under their own privacy terms: Google Firebase, RevenueCat and Apple. The AI reflection companion is not available in this version of the app.
What we never do
- We don't use your data for advertising.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the app does not use the advertising identifier.
- We don't sell or rent your personal data.
Your choices and rights
- Turn analytics off at any time: Settings › Privacy & data.
- Export your data: Settings › Privacy & data › Export my data.
- Delete your journal: Settings › Privacy & data › Delete journal.
- Delete your account: Settings › Privacy & data › Delete account. This deletes your account, including your random account ID, and the data stored with it on our servers, and erases the app's data on your iPhone. Subscriptions are managed by Apple; cancel them in your Apple Account settings.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or object to how it is used, by writing to jebariayman8@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
How long we keep data
Data on your device stays until you delete it or delete the app. Account data stays while your account exists and is deleted when you delete your account. Analytics events are kept for at most 14 months and crash reports for 90 days. Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat as their terms and tax rules require; write to us if you want RevenueCat's record of your purchases deleted.
Security
Journal entries are encrypted on your iPhone. Everything the app sends travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Children
Zidni is meant for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Data processed in other countries
Our providers may process data outside your country, for example in the European Union or the United States, with safeguards for international transfers.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
